Why Should I Participate?
Why should I enter, assist, participate in Sandscripts: Tales on the Tweed short filmmaking competition & event? |
Filmmaking is fun, educational and these days, accessible. Most
people have access to a piece of equipment that can record moving images
and with the advent of digital technology we also have the capacity to
edit footage on personal computers and produce programmes. This
means that anyone can be a filmmaker.
Add to this the advent of the Internet and anyone can be a star.
You can star in your own movie, you can shoot your own movie; you can
write, direct, produce, star in and shoot your own movie and then post it
on the internet. You don’t have to be chosen or selected, one out
of a million – the Internet is taking on and rebelling against the elite
-- you can be you and tell your story; it may be seen by millions or just
a handful of friends but the joy of participation and the finished product
is worth the effort. And, if you enter Sandscripts: Tales on the
Tweed short film competition you not only get the chance to tell your
story but you are helping us tell the story of life in the Tweed.
The Tweed region is a fantastic place to live but it is, despite recent
efforts in advertising, almost a well-kept secret.
We’re offering kids, not just the chance to be lauded, applauded & awarded
but also to participate in their own future. Without economic growth
in our region most of today's students will have to leave here to work.
This is not necessary. We can sustain our wonderful
environment and easy lifestyle and provide for the future of our
children.
Sandscripts: Tales on the Tweed will tell a story of a bright group of
kids living in a bright emerging region full of opportunity. This
collection of true to life programmes – not advertising – screened at Salt
Village at the height of tourist season next Easter and then placed on the
Internet will bring attention to individual efforts and at the same time,
shine the light on the Tweed, a great place to live and to love and to
invest!
One salesman moved his home office from Sydney to the Tweed in 2004; he
has bought an existing house, hired tradesmen to make improvements,
engaged a bookkeeper and an accountant and in five years his goal is to be
employing fifteen Tweed residents. He loves the Tweed and wants to
contribute to its sustainable future but this story almost never was
because he only found the Tweed by accident....
So how about it? How about entering, participating, assisting in
Sandscripts: Tales of the Tweed and making this a whole of community
response to providing for an even brighter future.
Every one will be the winner.
